Outside London, Manchester International is the busiest regional airport, by some considerable distance. Over 20 million passengers will travel via Manchester each year, and this is on the increase too, with an expectation of around 40 million people within the next 15 years.
A great asset for the airport is the excellent motorway network that surrounds it, linking large areas of the country easily to the airport, and therefore making it a great travel option for a lot of people.
The airport compares very well with the UK's busiest airport, Heathrow, as Manchester also has around a hundred airlines operating out of it, again flying to approximately two hundred destinations. This direct comparison clearly shows how closely the two airports are matched, and this is set to become closer as the years progress.
