As a travel destination Bangkok is excellent because it is so different from anywhere in the West, yet is also very accessible which allows many people to experience it's unique style. As is expected of an Asian country temples are to be found all around Bangkok, reflecting the spiritual aspects of the culture and also the long history associated with the area, some of the beautiful statues and buildings being many hundreds of years old.

In addition to the amazing Grand Palace, which everyone should visit whilst here, there are many more different temples and sights that must be seen. The Reclining Buddha for example, made of gold and jewels and so enormous that it only just fits in the shrine. Or how about the water markets, where the Bangkok locals offer their produce for sale. Get there early though otherwise all the best goods will have been sold.

Bankok also has a modern side, found primarily in the centre of the city, with western ideals more prevalent here. Bars and clubs are available for visitors to enjoy themselves, and have a well earned reputation for offering pretty much whatever people want.
